We have arrived in Texas and like I said it is really hot. We are staying at the Green Caye RV Park in Dickinson, TX http://greencayervpark.com . We have stayed here before when we came to the Texas rally last November. It is a nice park, concrete slabs and full hook ups. We are in the same spot we were in last time. The owner needs to move out some of the homesteaders as they make the park a little cluttered. They have permanent buildings on their site which is trashy looking. It is always clean though they have someone out working all the time to keep it clean.
Time to settle in for a couple of weeks. Need to get drivers license and plates for the vehicles.

We drove most of the day without any stops except for the diesel to keep us on the road. At about 8:00 pm we decided to stop for the night. We found a Walmart near Monroe, LA this time to stay at. I like not having to spend any money to stay the night. We went shopping in Walmart and then to get a bite to eat. At 10:30 I took the pups out for their evening walk and the temperature was 97 degrees. I remembered then why I do not like the deep south. Not a fan of hot weather and neither are Rosie and Bella, they have a black fur coat on.
We will get up in the morning and head for League City, Texas. I hear it is 105 there.
This is what they mean by a dogs life.

We headed to Athens, AL to visit with my sister Pam and here family. We stayed at a great little RV park right off interstate 65, Northgate RV Travel Park. This is not a fancy place but the site were large and the owner was friendly and helpful. The best part was that is was only 24.00 a night full hook up.
Pam and Bo came to pick us up and take us to their house. We had a really nice visit and it was great to spend some time with them. Of course Pam knew just what to serve us for dinner, Whitt;s BBQ, the best BBQ in the world hands down.
We decided that we should head to Texas at this point and start the process of getting all our vehicles registered and get Texas driver's license.

We stopped in Marietta, GA to visit John's brother Guy. We went to the Atlanta Marietta RV Resort to stay for the night. Let me tell you this is not a place that I will ever stay again. The owner's and managers are by far the nastiest people. They told us on the phone that they had pull thrus and then when we got there they did not have any pull thrus at all. We had to back the trailer into the grass next to the Bus, there were little yellow post sticking up out of the ground that you had to maneuver around. It was dirty and we will put that place on our list of places to never stay again.
We finally got the his brothers house and enjoyed a traditional Italian dinner. Bella also enjoyed herself and she ate from the trash, their dogs food and the brownies that were left on the coffee table. Needless to say I rolled up the rugs in the bus that night.
We had breakfast at the local diner the next morning, John's favorite places to eat, hook up and headed down the road.
Oh John also got a trim while we were at Guy's.

The Adventure Begins
June 10, 2011 - We spent most of the day waiting for settlement which was at 1:00. Everything went as it should have and straight to the bank we went. We headed home to hook up the trailer to the RV and head out. John is working with only one hand so it took a little longer. We were not even close to getting this all done when the new home owners show up with their Budget truck ready to move in. Now we are still in the driveway at this point. We got out of the way and said our goodbyes to the neighbors and Sharon, down the road we went at 3:50 pm.
We no sooner got to the other side of the DC beltway and the blinds on the driver's side above John's head came loose and was falling down. We are both thinking this is not the best way to start out with our new home falling apart.
We did not get too far on Friday, we stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Stauton, VA for the night. Took the pups for a walk and had a bite to eat. This is our first night of retirement.
